Seadrift Dining Table

It's taken a while for everything to get delivered, but our dining space has finally come together! Earlier this year, Pottery Barn came over and styled up our beautiful new Pottery Barn Benchwright Extending dining table in seadrift and Beatrix Flatweave rug for The Collected Home and since then, I've been meaning to finish decorating this room!

Some of the big decisions that we had to make were the buffet and dining chairs and for some reason, it took me months to finally come to a conclusion! I originally wanted to find a buffet that was rattan or a washed white and browsed so many different furniture stores trying to find the perfect one! After months and months of searching, I changed my mind as I kept being drawn back to the Toscana buffet in seadrift, which was the co-ordinating buffet to our dining table. This buffet has heaps of space to store all of our serving ware and I just love how the bottom half of the doors are wooden panels, allowing us to store the more messy items in the bottom shelves so that they are kept out of sight. The wood stain goes perfect with all of our existing decor in this space, and the top of it provides ample space to display our indoor plants and other things - though I am planning to keep it more bare here so that it doesn't become too cluttered.

In the end, the Pottery Barn Toscana buffet was the perfect choice as it allowed us to create contrast and interest in the space with our choice of chairs. I ended up going with white cross-back chairs from Melbourne based All4Furnishings as I loved how it helped reflect light into the space. With the light colours and open-back design, it also gives a bit of a 'barely there' feel and almost blend into the background, making the whole room feel a little lighter, if you know what I mean! All4Furnishings was the only place I found that had these cross-back chairs with the horizontal bars at the bottom. These horizontal bars in the design were really important to us because they double up as foot-rests and are soo handy to have and comfortable use. All the other cross-back chairs I had found had the curved look at the bottom which weren't as functional, so I was really excited to find these ones.

Here are some photos of our completed space below! There's only just one more thing left to do and that is the left wall opposite the balcony windows. Here, I'm still tossing up between installing floor to ceiling shelving or built-in floating shelves on the wall. Once we figure that out, expect to see another update!
